BOOMBER MAN
Blast the bricks. Plant bushes. Find the exit.
A free top-down bomber adventure with 20 levels and 4 giant bosses.
What is Boomber Man?
Boomber Man is a free bomber game that runs right in your web browser. You guide a small hero with a blue helmet through walled arenas packed with bricks, wooden crates and enemies. Drop bombs to blast a path, defeat every enemy in the level, and then step through the exit door that was hiding under a crate.
Each level takes between one and four minutes, so it is easy to play a quick round on a break and just as easy to settle in for a longer adventure. The game has 20 levels across four themed worlds, and your progress is saved on your own device so you can come back any time and keep going.
What makes it different
If you have played a classic bomber game, you will feel at home within seconds. Then the new ideas start to show up.
Bricks and crates
A brick breaks with one bomb. A wooden crate needs two, and the exit door always hides under one. Planning which blocks to break first is half the puzzle.
Bushes: shield and health
You carry a pouch of bushes and can plant one in front of you. Enemies cannot walk through it, it soaks up blasts, and if a blast hits you a bush burns instead of you. You lose a life only when your last bush is gone.
20 unique enemies
Every level introduces a new enemy with its own trick and its own way to be beaten. Nothing is a recolored copy, so you keep learning until the very last level.
The four worlds
The adventure is split into four worlds of five levels each. Every world has its own look, its own music and a new set of enemies that build on what you already know.
Meadow · levels 1 to 5
A sunny, gentle start. Meet Puff, Rusher, Flutter and Shelly while you learn bombs, crates and bushes.
Forest · levels 6 to 10
Thick trees and sneaky foes. Spitters fire spores, Wisps slip through walls and Knights carry shields.
Cavern · levels 11 to 15
Dark tunnels and tricky tricks. Embers resist bombs, Munchers eat them and Mimics pretend to be crates.
Castle · levels 16 to 20
The final stretch. Rival bombers fight back, Hives release wasps and Doppels copy your every move.
Big Battles with the 4 Titans
Levels 5, 10, 15 and 20 are Big Battles. Each ends a world with a Titan, a giant boss that fills four tiles of the arena and wears heavy armour. Bombs just bounce off until you find its weak moment, and red warnings on the floor show where its next attack will land. As its health bar drops it roars, gets tougher and drops a helpful power-up for you.
Titan King Puff
Belly slams that shake the whole floor.
Titan Mole King
Digs underground and rains rocks.
Titan Iron Golem
Blast-proof, unless it trips over a bush.
Titan Dark Emperor
The final boss, with a storm of bombs.
Beginner tips
- Drop and run. Before you place a bomb, know exactly where you will hide. A bomb blasts in a cross shape after about two and a half seconds.
- Use bushes as doors. Plant a bush in a corridor behind you and enemies cannot follow.
- Mind the angle. A bush between your bomb and an enemy protects the enemy too, so bomb from the side.
- Chain your bombs. A bomb caught in another blast explodes as well. Chain kills score double.
- Keep an eye on the clock. When time runs out, unstoppable Reapers rush in from the corners.
- Find it too hard? Switch on Easy mode on the title screen for slower enemies and more time.
